I'd say most of us are familiar with the traditional black and green teas, but white tea seems to get much less attention, and we can't think why - it offers a multitude of health benefits, whether it's ingested or applied topically - and is actually the least-processed tea of the three major types. White tea has a delicate and slightly sweet flavour, and is clear in colour.
So, what can this peculiar variety of tea do for you? Well, studies have shown that as well as being antiviral and antibacterial, white tea contains higher levels of antioxidants than its black and green cousins, and offers a number of health benefits, including lowering blood pressure and cholesterol, decreasing the risk of cancer through the presence of flavanoids - a type of antioxidant, and promoting healthy skin by targeting free radicals. Drinking white tea is also thought to help reduce stress levels and increase energy.
But it's not just on the inside that white tea works its magic - it's an ingredient in a number of natural skin care products stocked at Eve Organics, and with good reason - when applied topically (on the surface of the skin), white tea has been shown to protect the skin from oxidative stress and immune cell damage, boosting skin cells' natural defence against the effects of the sun. Studies in Britain have also demonstrated the anti-aging properties of white tea, a result of its high content of antioxidants.
So, how can you start to take advantage of this wonder ingredient? Well, if you're an English Breakfast drinker and can't quite get used to the thought of swapping your afternoon cuppa with milk for a white tea instead - then you could start by instead incorporating it into your natural skin care routine. You can find white tea in our beautiful Little Alchemist Ultra-C Radiance Serum - a high-potency, dual-action serum that helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, even out skin tone and reduce the appearance of age spots. As well as the wondrous white tea, it contains nutrient-rich sea buckthorn fruit oil, anti-aging co-enzyme Q10 and vitamins A and C. It's the ultimate skin-booster!
Until next time.. xx
