Acai: Berry beneficial!
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you will undoubtedly have seen the word ‘Acai’ somewhere recently.
Acai berries are the fruit of the Palm Acai, native to the Amazon region of South America. High in energy, they have been used as a food source for the peoples of this region for hundreds of years.. but a recent appearance on Oprah thrust them into the spotlight, and into public consciousness. And with good reason! Acai berries truly are a superfood, and are fantastic for the complexion as well. Read on to see what they can do for you and your skin!
What’s so special about Acai?
- Brimming with antioxidants
Alongside cacao, acai berries are the highest known source of antioxidants in the world.Antioxidants combat free radicals in the body, which contribute to the signs of ageing.

Our 100% Pure Acai Berry Antioxidant Facial Cream is wonderful for tired, unbalanced or dehydrated skin; and it smells like a fresh berry smoothie!
- Anti-carcinogenic

- High in essential fatty acids (omega-3, omega-6 and omega-9) and amino acids (the building blocks of proteins).
- High in vitamins (particularly A and E – making it an extremely beneficial ingredient in skin care), minerals and fibre.
How can Acai help my skin?

Product Review: Mokosh Face Cleansing Powder & Mask
Luckily for us, we come into contact with a huge range of beautiful, gourmet skin care products every day working at Eve Organics – but every now and then, a product comes along that sticks with you. This miracle-in-a-glass-jar is one of them.
In their Face Cleansing Powder & Mask, Mokosh have created a product that truly transforms the complexion. Granular in texture, the powder adopts a deliciously ‘mushy’ consistency when mixed with water, and can be immediately washed off or left on as a mask once or twice a week. The powder contains Argiletz green clay to withdraw impurities – so it offers a deeper clean than most cleansers.
Like all of the Mokosh products, the Face Cleansing Powder & Mask is beautifully simple. With ingredients like organic oatmeal; neem, coconut and wheatgrass powders; and rose petals, the powder refines, renews and is excellent at balancing oily, combination or over-active skin types. It has an ‘earthy’ aroma and feels soft but oh-so-slightly exfoliating on contact. Skin is left feeling clearer, softer and brighter.
Customers have told us that the Face Cleansing Powder & Mask helps to improve skin texture, reduce the appearance of enlarged pores and combat dullness.
To make the most of your Mokosh Face Cleansing Powder & Mask, keep it outside of the shower and pour just enough product into your dry hand before mixing it with water outside the jar. Allowing moisture into the jar can cause the product to spoil, so store it in a dry place – remember, it’s 100% natural and preservative-free.
Have you tried our Mokosh Face Cleansing Powder & Mask? What did you think? We’d love to hear your thoughts!
...Until next time xx
Salon results from nature – Introducing our new Nourishing Face Treatment
Moisturising oily skin & the oil cleansing method
If you’re reading this and you suffer from combination to oily skin like I do, then you’re probably going to cringe at what I have to say next. But find the courage to read on!
We seem more than happy to use body oils, massage oils and the like on the skin on the rest of our body – but for some reason most of us are reluctant to use oil to moisturise our faces. Well, there’s no reason to be afraid!
It’s a total myth that oil is bad for oily skin. In actual fact, it’s quite the opposite.
For most people who suffer from oily skin, the first step is to start using an ‘oil free’, ‘purifying’ or ‘mattifying’ skin care routine, using commercial products designed to remove excess oil from the skin’s surface. This is all good and well in theory – but what we so often forget, is that the skin needs oil. It requires lubrication – and it produces oil for this reason. If your skin is producing too much oil, then you use a product that ‘strips’ it of this oil, and you continue to do this, day-in, day-out, then understandably, the skin will panic. It will start to wonder what on Earth is happening to the oil it’s producing – and it will start to produce even more oil to compensate for the fact that it’s regularly being stripped away, leaving your skin even oilier than when you started.
So – what’s the answer? You don’t want that extra oil on your skin. It might be causing you blemishes, or it may just have you looking and feeling like an oil-slick by lunch time, frantically grabbing for your blotting papers ten times during the work day.
Well, probably much to your amazement - and originally, to mine too - the answer is, oil.
The catch here, is that you need to find the right kinds of oils for your skin type. Contrary to popular belief, not all oils encourage oil production. Some oils are particularly effective at balancing out oily skin types, and calming down the production of excess oil. Lavender oil, tea tree oil and geranium oil are some examples.
On the other hand, some types of oils are particularly good at hydrating and nourishing dry and dehydrated skin - like avocado and rosehip.
So, the trick is not to fret and go and purchase the least hydrating, oil-free moisturiser you can find. Rather, the best idea is to continue to hydrate your skin, but to hydrate it using the correct oils for your skin type.
That's where our gorgeous range of Mokosh Face Oils comes in.
Mokosh is a certified organic skin care company, and one of our favourite ranges stocked at Eve Organics. Their facial oils are some of their most effective and revolutionary products - and there's one available for every skin type - dry, normal and oily - each being specially designed with oils that benefit dry, normal or oily skin.
You can find the facial oils here.
The version for oily skin types contains the above-mentioned lavender, tea tree and geranium oils to balance and calm down overactive sebacious glands. The version for normal skin contains evening primrose and apricot kernel oil, and the version for dry skin contains nourishing avocado, macadamia and rosehip oils, amongst other beautiful ingredients.
We recommend you go and check them out, and let go of your fear! Oil is not your skin's enemy - there are dozens of different types of natural oils, and they each serve a different function. Learn to choose the right oils for you, and you'll find that in time, your skin will become softer, clearer, more balanced and more hydrated. And more importantly, you'll thank us for stopping you from reaching for the drying, oil-free alternative!
