The Travel Edition: Jet-setting essentials!

Since we’re half way across the world at the moment scouting potential new ranges, we thought we’d theme this blog post accordingly! Here are our natural skin care jet-setting picks – so you can arrive at your destination looking glowing and rested; even if you don’t feel that way.

1. A de-puffing eye cream
As we’ve recently discovered, this is essential not only during-flight, but also after you arrive at your destination. After all, who gets enough sleep on a whirlwind holiday?! A good, soothing eye cream will work wonders for your tired eyes and make them sparkle again. Hello summer romance!

2. A revitalising and refreshing toner
Whether you use a toner as part of your every-day skin care regime or not, they are an absolute must for air travel. You know the red, blotchy skin you always seem to end up with after a long-haul journey? That’s due to dehydration. Drinking lots of water will help, as will using a moisture-injecting, skin-soothing toner like this one. Trust us – the difference on landing is incredible!

3. Makeup Remover
We know you probably won’t stick to your regular routine whilst you’re travelling – and we’re not judging you! Too many nights eating/shopping/partying/walking cobbled streets can take their toll on both your body and your motivation to take care of it. But there’s no excuse for not taking your makeup off at the end of the day – and your skin will thank you for it in the morning when you’re ready to do it all again. This little beauty will both clean off makeup and residue and hydrate the skin – so it’s a do-it-all product for those nights when you’re feeling a little lazy.

Going nuts for almond

Those of you reading this and thinking, ‘Yuck! I hate almonds!’ best find another post to read.
Because here at Eve Organics, we LOVE almonds. In our biscuits and on our faces!
We all know that almonds are used to make macaroons and marzipan (didn’t know that? You need to get baking – you’re missing out!)…
but here a few things you may not know about one of the healthiest members of the nut family:
- Almond meal makes a great substitute for flour, and can be used in cooking.
- Almond milk is a fantastic alternative to cow’s milk for people who are lactose intolerant. And it’s tasty! Check your local health food store.
- Almonds are great at softening and gently exfoliating the skin, and almond makes a great addition to homemade cleansers and scrubs. Here are a few examples:

Almond Milk Cleanser
- 4 Tablespoons of fine almond meal
- 4 Tablespoons of white clay
- I Tablespoon of organic milk powder

Add all the ingredients to a jar, close and shake well. To use, pour 1 Tablespoon into your hand and gently massage into the skin. Rinse off and pat dry, and say hello to softer, smoother skin!

Breakfast Yoghurt Scrub
- 20g of Brewer’s yeast (find it in the baking section)
- 2 Teaspoons of plan organic yoghurt
- 2 Teaspoons of almond meal
- 1 Teaspoon of honey

Combine the ingredients and stir well to mix. Use immediately (do not refrigerate). Yeast is fantastic at encouraging circulation and is a rich source of vitamin B6, and honey is antiseptic and healing.

Have you used almond meal or milk as a substitute in your at-home recipes; beauty or otherwise? Share them here!

Until next time…xx
