Your Questions Answered – our pick of this week’s customer queries!
Every week we receive dozens of queries about our products, their ingredients, and natural skin care in general. So we thought, why not share the answers around so that all our readers can benefit?
Here’s our pick of this week’s customer queries – and a special thank you to Waleska from our 100% vegan range, Gourmet Body Treats, for her contribution to this blog post. Remember – you can contact us any time by clicking here, or emailing info@eveorganics.com.au – we offer free skin care consultations and are always happy to answer your questions.
Q: Why do some of your face creams come in jars? Doesn’t this mean the product is exposed to air each time it’s opened?
It’s true that jars do make the product exposed to elements after each use, but since many of our face creams don’t contain any ‘filler’ ingredients such as water or emulsifiers, they’re often too thick to be housed in a pump-type container. Some of our suppliers such as Gourmet Body Treats have looked into aluminum tubes, but many skin care users have allergies to various metals. Gourmet Body Treats feel that glass containers are the most environmentally friendly choice and they don’t react with their product, keeping the products pure, safe and natural. Keeping the lid on and washing your hands prior to use or using a cosmetic spatula to apply the product will keep your cream germ free. Most of our products have a shelf life of 8-12 months after opening and we always encourage customers to use the products ritually to ensure no product gets wasted.
Q – Does your Gourmet Body Treats Gingko Biloba Toner contain any alcohol?
The Gourmet Body Treats Gingko Biloba Toner has a 1% alcohol content left over from distilling the witchhazel plant in organic alcohol, from Californian grapes unsuitable for wine production.
Gourmet Body Treats did originally try to distill their witchhazel extract using water, but they found that this left the witchhazel weak and diminished its antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, mainly due to a reduced amount of tannins in the extract.
Q – What’s the difference between floral waters and essential oils? Do floral waters still contain essential oils?
The flower waters we used in many of our products do come from the plant – they are derived through steam distillation. The essential oil separates from the water during
distillation and, if the floral water is filtered into a separate container, then no essential oils are present in the floral water that ends up in the product. However, some of the plants’ natural healing properties are present in the final products such as alpha-Bisabolol, an anti–inflammatory. If you’re pregnant or suffer from allergies and you’re concerned about particular essential oils in a product containing floral waters, please ask us and we can advise you accordingly.
Q – How does the Vitamin C in your Gourmet Body Treats Vitamin C Booster work? Does it matter if the product is left open?
The vitamin C Gourmet Body Treats use is encapsulated in a stable plant based lipid. The product is housed in a dropper; but the vitamin C is released only after the surrounding plant based lipids melt after after application, releasing the vitamin C onto the skin. The plant based lipids are a combination of olive and coconut oils.

Glowing Review: Our 100% Pure Tomato Lycopene Facial Cream
Every now & then we stumble across a review of one of the products in our range, and we simply have to share it!
The Tomato Lycopene Facial Cream by 100% Pure is a new addition to the range, and a miracle product for damaged and distressed complexions. Karley from Pure Beauty with Karley shares her thoughts on this wonder-in-a-bottle! :
Tomato Lycopene Facial Cream: A Closer Look
In addition to making a great BLT or homemade sauce, tomatoes are great for your skin. I think tomatoes are one of the most underrated skin foods out there. A recent study in Great Britain showed that regular consumption of lycopene-rich tomatoes can help protect skin from UVA damage as well as prevent premature aging. Tomatoes also benefit the skin when topically applied. The main compound of this fruit is a carotene called LYCOPENE, which is a true antioxidant powerhouse.
At a conference at the Center for Food and Nutrition Policy at the Virginia Technical Institute, one subject discussed was a finding that lycopene in tomatoes may actually reduce sun damage by up to 35%!
In addition to these wonderful antioxidant properties, lycopene can also soften and smooth the skin to give it an ideal texture. The tonic effects of the lycopene are also wonderful for balancing sebum in the skin.
One product from 100% Pure that I truly adore and would place into my top 3 favorites (which is oh so hard to do!) is the Tomato Lycopene Facial Cream. This is the facial moisturizer I have been using each morning.
I used to suffer from skin that was quite dry. Once I switched over to a regular regimen of 100% Pure products, it became normalized. No more dull, dry patches. Just NORMAL skin. In the heat and humidity, I’ve had a bit of combination skin with t-zone oil like I did 15-20 years ago. I needed to find a lighter facial moisturizer that I could use alone or with natural, mineral sunscreen. As you may know, using a natural sunscreen can wreak havoc on the pores so you need a light face cream instead of a heavy one.
I also know of many people with truly oily and acne prone skin who use this as well.
This is my favorite facial cream to use. First of all, it is not a traditional, potted cream. It is in a pump bottle and is a lighter fluid. It is super gentle and doesn’t feel heavy on the skin.
Just look at the ingredients:
Ingredients: Cucumber Juice, Tomato Extract, Organic Rose Hydrosol, Carrot Seed Oil, Tomato Lycopene, Organic Avocado Butter, Aloe Juice, Organic Pomegranate Seed Extract, Vitamin E (a-tocopherol), Vitamin C (ascorbyl palmitate), Extract of Organic Goldenseal, Organic Rosemary, Organic Oregano, Organic Thyme and Organic Lavender, Japanese Honeysuckle Extract, Citric Acid, Witch Hazel, Candelilla Wax and Calendula Extract
Why this works–a look at some of the key ingredients:
*Cucumber juice is the number one ingredient. This soothing ingredient is also a skin tonic, and when combined with the tonic benefits of tomatoes, it helps clear the pores and get that “gunk” out of your skin.
*Rose hydrosol stimulates the skin and can also restore the pH balance of your skin.
*Carrot seed oil is present in this cream as well and I’d like to talk about why this is such a good thing. Carrot seed oil contains high amounts of both Vitamin A and Carotene. Both are very potent antioxidants. When used on this skin, carrot seed can help to repair damage already done by free radicals. While many essential oils are not corrective, this is one that has shown to be both corrective and preventive.
Carrot Seed’s effect on the skin can be visible after just a few days of use, starting with a more radiant appearance. Often when our skin looks dull or sallow, carrot seed can help give it that “boost” we need.
People have found that skin infections have been treated well with carrot seed. Conditions such as psoriasis, contact dermatitis and eczema also can find some relief with this oil.
Those with mature skin can also reap the rewards of using this essential oil. It will make the skin softer, and can rejuvenate and tone the skin’s texture which results in a more youthful appearance.
needs to be properly stabilized to provide maximum benefit. Have you ever had a vitamin C product that, once opened, quickly turns into a rusty brown shade? I think we all have. That means that the vitamin C has oxidized. The Vitamin C in 100% Pure products is top-notch. Your skin will reap the anti-aging and antioxidant benefits, and this vitamin can brighten your skin too.
Did you enjoy this review? Have you tried our 100% Pure Tomato Lycopene Facial Cream? We’d love to hear your thoughts!

Ingredient Focus: Evening Primrose Oil
Evening Primrose Oil is quite an amazing ingredient, with incredible healing properties. It’s well known for its effect on hormone regulation, and is used in the treatment of pre/post-menstrual syndrome, menopause and endometriosis. Evening Primrose Oil contains a high concentration of gamma-linoleic acid or GLA, a fatty acid. GLA interferes with the production of prostaglandins during menstruation, lessening menstrual cramps and potentially decreasing other menstrual symptoms such as breast tenderness and cravings.
Evening Primrose Oil has has an equally healing effect on various skin conditions, including acne, eczema and rosacea. Some studies have indicated Evening Primrose Oil to have a significantly greater effect than a placebo on inflammation in eczema sufferers. Its ability to reduce inflammation also makes it effective against rosacea. The fatty acids in the oil work to dilute sebum, which is over-secreted in many acne sufferers.

Don’t! Moisturising the skin before makeup application is essential for a number of reasons. Firstly, it nourishes and hydrates the skin like no makeup product can. It also creates a barrier between the skin and our cosmetics, smoothing and protecting the surface of the skin to allow for more even makeup application. Do you notice dry, flakey and cakey patches appearing on your face throughout the day? This can be down to a few things; but one of them is a lack of moisture. If you’re skimping on moisturiser because you’re afraid it will make your skin look oily, then you’re probably using the wrong moisturiser!
